Happy Friday!
It’s tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!
The house is officially dressed for the season, and as I type this, Carter and I are about to trim the tree. Yes, I know the timing divides people, but I’m firmly on the side of early! Everything gets a little more sparkly once the garland is up. It’s twinkly and warm and good, and I plan to enjoy the decorations every day for the next eight weeks: over morning coffee, during nightly reading, and best of all, walking in the door after a long day to a room that’s glowing back at me.
This weekend I’m off to Chicago to celebrate some truly remarkable women in my family! I can’t think of a better way to open the season than in my hometown, with so many of the people I love in one room.
Until our next correspondence,
xx Lauren
The Lauren Letter will always be free. But if this space has become something you look forward to—a small ritual in your week, a source of inspiration, a reminder to approach life with more intention—you now have the option to support it.
Wearing | Tuckernuck Navy Cotton Rollneck Americana Sweater
This sweater got so many compliments on Election Day! It’s a longtime favorite and a charming way to show your patriotism!
Eating | Chicken Wild Rice Casserole
It’s effortless and deeply comforting, which is exactly what these dark-by-five evenings call for. In theory it makes two full nights of dinner for two. In practice, Carter went back for seconds . . . and thirds.
Reading | “Let’s Make an Annual Life Admin Checklist” by Shira Gill, The Life Edit
A wonderfully civilized way to eat the elephant, one bite at a time.
Watching | Nobody Wants This
The fizziest show on television is back, and the new season is a delight! I laughed out loud at “I love you, but I can’t explain peels to you right now” in the very first episode.
Listening | evermore, Taylor Swift
It’s been on repeat all week. Nothing sounds more like November: woodsmoke, wool, and wistfulness.
Trying | BaubleBar Alpha Tote
This new tote is coming with me to Chicago, and I’m smitten! It’s clean and polished, with just the chicest personalized touch. Thank you to the BaubleBar team for gifting me this bag!
Champagne | Herend Christmas China Mug
I recently purchased this for my morning coffee, and it makes the smallest ritual feel properly special and festive.
Frites | Williams Sonoma ’Twas the Night Before Christmas Mug
It brings the same sense of ceremony for a fraction of the price. Proof that a little magic doesn’t have to come with a big price tag!

Erin Ryser
Erin Ryser is as breathtaking as she is brilliant, and bubbly to boot. She did my hair and makeup on my wedding day, and that’s when I learned something I now tell every bride: your hair and makeup artist is the most important vendor you’ll book. I spent more time with Erin that day than with anyone else, Carter included.
Her before-and-afters are nothing short of transformative. Follow her for soft event glam, or for everyday looks that are polished as could be.
P.S. I promise to always keep The Lauren Letter free as my little exercise of trying to make the world a bit more beautiful. If, in return, you could considering giving this post a “like” or share with a friend, it would just mean the world to me.
